The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), with support from UNDP Liberia and funding from the UN Peacebuilding Fund, today concluded a two-day media training workshop in Ganta, Nimba County, held under the theme “Uncovering the Facts; Strengthening Integrity Through Journalism.”

The workshop brought together 30 journalists from across Liberia, two from each county, along with 15 Civil Society Organization (CSO) representatives. Facilitators were drawn from the LACC, the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), and a team of legal and media experts.

PUL President Julius Kanubah thanked the LACC for the initiative and reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to working with LACC, UNDP Liberia, and partners to revitalize investigative journalism. He urged greater media involvement in the fight against corruption, despite challenges from political influence in media ownership.

Ms. Vivian S. Akoto, Executive Assistant at the LACC, emphasized that empowering citizens and communities through access to information and investigative journalism is one of the most effective ways to fight corruption and promote accountability.

UNDP’s Trokon Bryant called the training a significant stride toward empowering citizens and strengthening democratic governance, reaffirming UNDP’s unwavering support for transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance in Liberia.
