Ongoing Corruption Case Involving Bong Mines Hospital: LACC Monitors Progress on OPD Renovation
The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) is actively monitoring the final stages of the long-delayed renovation of the Outpatient Department (OPD) at Bong Mines Hospital, a work that was originally abandoned by the contractor, Blessing Engineering and Construction Company.
In 2024, Blessing Engineering and Construction Company, led by Mr. Barkollie Kollie, was awarded a government contract to upgrade the OPD of the Bong Mines Hospital, a vital facility that serves thousands in the Bong Mines community.
Refusing to let impunity prevail, the LACC, working alongside the 9th Judicial Circuit Court in Bong County, filed an indictment against the company for failing to deliver on its public mandate.
Facing legal consequences, the construction company entered a pre-bargaining agreement with the court in May 2025, promising to complete the renovation within three weeks, by today June 20. So far, the company has made visible progress. The OPD now stands near completion.
This is more than bricks and mortar. “This case is a stark reminder of the need for accountability in public infrastructure projects especially in the health sector, where lives are at stake,” the Commission emphasized.
The LACC is dedicated to fighting corruption at every level and ensuring that taxpayer money truly serves the Liberian people. No institution or individual will be allowed to hide behind broken contracts and unkept promises.
